What does the thread count for bed linens mean?
Answered By Editor
Thread count refers to the woven threads in
one square inch of the fabric. Thread counts
consist of the weft and the warp of a fabric,
ranging from 300, 400, 800 or even 1000
threads per square inch. Warps are the
vertical threads and wefts are the horizontal
threads woven as one. Generally, the higher
the thread count, the more durable the
product, but the quality of the fiber itself
also influences the quality of the sheet,
regardless of the thread count.
