How do you clean a down comforter?

Can you answer mandy’s question about Bedding?:

My puppy chills on my bed with me sometimes, and she had a bit of an “accident” in the sense of she was stareing right at me, and now there’s a nice big urin stain on the comforter. Somehow I don’t think throwing it in the washing machine is a good idea, so how do i clean it?

Thanks much.

Bedding Feedback: Take it to the dry cleaners or check the care label on it, depending on the size and your washer, you might be able to use that.
P.S.: Wanted to add good post!

Bedding Feedback: My parents came from Europe, so we raised gueese and made featherticks from the down pulled from the geese.

You can just take it and wash it out with a bar soap and water and spot wash it and spot rinse it good, then dry over a chair and over a heater vent. . You will never hurt the feathers with water and soap. Remember, they came off of a bird and saw lots of water.

To wash the entire feathertick. open a hole and remove the feathers. Then dump them into a soapy galvanized wash tub and wash and rinse them out good. Do this on a sunny windless day. Then put them in the sun on a bedsheet to dry spread out . When dry, reload the feathertick and sew up the closing.

Bedding Feedback: dry cleaner is the only hope, down isnt worth the expense since its hard to clean , heavy, i stick to polyester, gave the cats the down.
